Christmas round ours...

My crafty endeavours have been significantly reduced this year due to the tiny human I spawned in the Spring, but I have managed to make some easy christmas decorations, which I am mightily proud of myself for. So. Here are some snippets of our Christmas.

Our tree! Hopefully our last fake one... (Spot the baby sock!)

We've been lacking a star for the top of our tree for years now so I finally made one this year, with pom poms. In fact I've gone a bit pom pom mad. Paper pom poms. Felt pom poms. Wooly pom poms. (Thanks to Adam and Joe I cant talk about pompom's without saying "welcome to the poo poo party, pom pom!"If you don't like Adam and Joe I realise this is probably lost on you. Sorry. Anyway, onwards!)

My trusty patchwork Christmas baubles. See the tutorial I wrote for the Guardian over here. Quite a few people have contacted me saying that they have made these and love them, which makes me happy.

Fluoro and reindeer bauble from a local Christmas market. I love them!

This is the bauble that Frankie-Rose chose from Liberty! she really did! (ahem)

Our Christmas mantle

My mister showed me how to make wooly (poo poo party) pom poms and we spent a very enjoyable evening watching Bill Murray in Scrooged and fashioning these little critters.

I made the felt garland at the top of the chimney breast wall too, and have finally tracked down some affordable globe fairy lights.

Vintage Christmas candles

I've owned this star since I was 14. Hoarding for the win.

I love these letters from Papermash. We also bought some paper lanterns from there too.Update: Papermash currently has a sale! go forth and buy paper goods!

I made the coloured card garland  last year, but this year managed to stretch it round the tree and along the windows too.

Cozy christmas sofa

And thats the end of my Christmas rambling. I'm currently solo parenting a sick baby so not feeling toooo festive right now, but I'm hoping a dose of Arthur Christmas and some gingerbread gets things moving.

I hope preparations for Christmas are going swimmingly for you (and are significantly less germ filled than mine)!

  2. It all looks so wonderful & colourful. You've done some really nice things. Really like the homemade touch to the decor too... we've gone down that road a bit. Pom pom garlands and tree bunting etc - far better than tinsel :)

  5. Your handmade decorations are lovely! The star is so jolly - and it's must be so nice to know your baby will grow up familiar with each one, and be excited to unwrap them each year! The reindeer one is so unusual, great find!

Hope you have a great Christmas!

    1. Ok, at the risk of sounding like a complete crazy, YES! We showed her all of the walls of decorations and picked up the first one she actually tried to grab. Granted she first tried to grab some women's hair and some guys yellow trousers, but she did grab this bauble too! Oh dear. Maybe we ARE those parents! :)

  7. It all looks so gorgeous and colourful! It must be lovely sitting amidst it all (although boo for the poorly baby - so many nasties going round - hope she is better soon). And as for all the pom poms, why be Denny Different? x

Hello! Sorry to ask you to complete a very annoying capcha thingy, but its the only way to keep the tidal wave of crappy spammers at bay.
